Putin Meets Raisi, Emphasizes Support for Iran Amidst Fragile Cease-Fire

According to a report on the Kremlin website on September 1st, Russian President Putin met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Putin stated that Russia supports the Iranian people, and said, "I admire your courage and perseverance in fighting for your national interests." Putin asked Pezeshian to convey his regards to Iran's supreme leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Putin said that Russia welcomes the cease-fire memorandum reached between Iran and the United States in June this year. However, it is unfortunate that the cease-fire is not stable and too fragile. "In this difficult period, we are working hard to provide you with necessary assistance."

Pezeshijian expressed gratitude to the Russian side for its support for Iran in the United Nations and other international organizations. If the United States resumes fulfilling the obligations determined within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, Iran will also resume compliance with all relevant measures.
