On August 30th local time, the U.S. Central Command posted a statement on social media, stating that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps called the U.S. strikes to prevent them from deploying mines in the Hormuz Strait "aggressive actions," and said this claim was "completely incorrect."
The US Central Command stated that the U.S. has carried out limited and precise actions against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps mine forces, which pose an 'imminent threat' in the Strait of Hormuz. 'Iran is creating a threat,' said the U.S., explaining their strike to protect civilian crew members, commercial shipping, and the free flow of global trade.
On that day, the US military launched an air strike on the Iranian island of Larak near the Strait of Hormuz. This was the first military attack against Iranian targets by the US in over a month.
U.S. Central Command spokesman Tim Hodgins said that the U.S. military destroyed two Iranian rocket launch devices on the island of Larak. An American official stated that after observation, the U.S. military believed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran intended to use these devices to spread mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
Regarding this, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran issued a statement stating that in response to the invasions of Laraq Island by the United States and Israel, the Revolutionary Guard launched missiles and drones to destroy two military airfield facilities belonging to the US Air Force located within Jordan, as well as causing severe damage to the locations where fighter jets were deployed.
The Revolutionary Guard warned: "The enemy's aggression and criminal acts cannot weaken Iran's control over the Hormuz Strait. Every attack will face even more fierce counterattacks."
