According to Reuters and France 24 TV, Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez said on the 31st local time that both Russia and Israel had spread and amplified false information related to the large number of illegal immigrants who flooded the Spanish enclave of Huda last month.
Sanchez said, "After July 30th and 31st, rumors and false information began to spread. These messages came from social networks associated with Russia and Israel, as well as from an international far-right force. The latter always uses immigration issues to attack not only Spain but also Europe, and attempts to create division."
Sanchez said, 'It's obvious' that Russia and Israel are using this crisis to criticize the Spanish government. The reason is that Spain has differences with both countries regarding its stance on the Russo-Ukrainian conflict and the situation in the Middle East.
The Spanish enclave of Ceuta is located on the North African Mediterranean coast near the Strait of Gibraltar, bordering Morocco.
At the end of July, misinformation about Spanish border policies spread on social media, leading to over 70,000 people illegally crossing the border from Morocco into Ceuta. This has triggered Spain’s worst border immigration crisis in recent years.
