According to the Korean Central News Agency, a spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement on August 31 that the United States has been showing a increasingly confrontational stance towards North Korea, and the hostile policy of the Trump administration towards North Korea remains unchanged.
The spokesperson said that U.S. government officials, including a spokesman from the U.S. State Department, stated on the 26th that the United States is “continue to work towards the complete denuclearization of North Korea,” and that “there are no changes in the U.S. policy toward North Korea.” They also discussed the issue of so-called “human rights violations,” which further reveals their intent to undermine North Korea’s national image and create internal instability—an extremely sinister and malicious intention.
Meanwhile, the US military announced that it will carry out a joint military exercise involving the United States, Japan, and South Korea, known as ‘Liberty Blade’, which poses a threat to North Korea and other countries in the region. The military also continues various anti-North Korean military provocations, including aerial reconnaissance operations.
The spokesperson said that the Trump administration has once again unreservedly confirmed its hostile policies, which involve the absurdity of “denuclearization”, conspiracy activities regarding “human rights”, and military threats that severely violate North Korea’s sovereignty, political system, and security interests.
The spokesperson stated that the United States has shown through its language and actions that its confrontational stance towards North Korea is a structural cause of instability in the region. In the context of the escalating hostile policy towards North Korea pursued by the United States, it is meaningless to expect a reduction in regional tensions.
The spokesperson said that the United States' policy towards North Korea has not changed, and will not change in the future. Under this premise, North Korea will exercise its sovereignty more resolutely and clearly to defend the supreme interests of national security.
"We will resolutely and strongly respond to the US's unchanged hostile policy, and our stance on this issue has not changed at all." Spokesperson said.
Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly signaled a willingness to resume dialogue with North Korea. On August 24th, he released three photos of Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea. Earlier this month, Trump also instructed a significant reduction in the scale of joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States, as a sign of easing tensions.
However, the North Korean side reacted indifferently to this. Kim Kyung-wha, a minister of the Central Committee of the Korean Workers’ Party, said recently that she had ‘nothing to say’ about the news from Washington regarding recent communications between North and US leaders. As for the sudden announcement by the US President to reduce the scale of joint military exercises between the US and South Korea, the North Korean side believes that it ‘is not worth commenting on, and there is no interest in discussing it.’
