On the afternoon of August 30 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Bishkek by special aircraft. At the invitation of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Zaparov, he attended the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and conducted an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
When Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived at Bishkek Manas International Airport, President Zaparov and his wife warmly welcomed them. Zaparov presented flowers to Peng Liyuan. Local young women offered traditional pastries and honey to the couple of the President, welcoming the most honored guests with traditional rituals. The military personnel stood on both sides of the red carpet in salute. The heads of state enjoyed performances of local traditional musical instruments, as well as displays of culture including falcons, hounds, traditional warrior formations, horse teams, and felt houses. Local teenagers sang Chinese songs.
Xi Jinping delivered a written speech, representing the Chinese government and the Chinese people, extending sincere greetings and best wishes to President Zaparov and the people of Kyrgyzstan.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the traditional friendship between China and Kyrgyzstan has a long history. The majestic Tian Shan Mountain bears witness to the friendly exchanges between the people of both countries over thousands of years. Over the past 34 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Kyrgyzstan relations have withstood the tests of international changes and have always maintained healthy and stable development, reaching a high level of comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era. In recent years, cooperation between the two countries has entered a period of rapid development. Bilateral trade volume and the number of people traveling between the two countries have reached new heights. Major projects such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway have been successfully implemented, and the tangible results of mutually beneficial cooperation have benefited the people of both countries extensively. During my visit, I will exchange in-depth views with President Zaparov on China-Kyrgyzstan relations, cooperation in various fields between the two countries, as well as international and regional issues of common concern, to outline a new blueprint for building a community of shared future between China and Kyrgyzstan. I look forward to attending the Bishkek Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and working with all parties to promote continuous development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Cai Qi, Wang Yi, and other accompanying personnel arrived on the same plane.
China's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Liu Jiangping, also went to the airport to greet him.
