On August 28 local time, Tass reported, citing sources within the Russian defense industry complex, that Russia's latest radio electronic jamming system, "Volna Dome Garant," has begun mass production. This system is capable of effectively countering Musk's "Starlink" satellite system.
The source said, “The ‘Baoqiong Protection’ system has proven effective. We have begun replicating it and starting mass production. Now, quantity has translated into quality, and we can basically block Star Chain signals wherever necessary. The enemy is suffering unbearable pain.”
He explained that the ‘Poung Protection’ system has extremely high signal power; one device can cause Star Link to stop working in a large area. He said, ‘A few devices can block an entire region. Activating dozens of devices at the same time could even temporarily disable Star Link.’
In his view, today ‘Poyun Protection’ not only plays an effective role in the operations against Ukraine, but has also become a tool with global influence. ‘Thanks to the efforts of local engineers and the defense industry complex, Russia has surprisingly acquired a real international political tool.’
The source also mentioned that a few days ago, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy awarded Musk the Ukrainian Freedom Medal.
This is the highest honor awarded by Ukraine to foreign nationals. This award was given as Kiev sought permission from Musk to use Starlink for Ukrainian drone operations on Russian territory. Musk previously reportedly rejected Ukrainian requests, expressing concerns about a potential escalation of tensions.
When discussing this matter, the person said, “Musk explicitly prohibited the use of Starlink satellites over Russia, but allowed their code to be cracked and installed on Russian military long-range attack drones. This is an act of directly assisting in the killing of Russians.”
Russia retains the right to promote this technology globally to all interested countries. The game has only just begun, and Musk has been drawn into it. "If Starlink continues to serve as a collaborator with terrorism, Russia will decide whether to limit it to domestic airspace or terminate its global work."
The Spanish newspaper El Mundo previously reported that Russian electronic warfare systems had begun interfering with Starlink, causing trouble for the Ukrainian army. However, the Ukrainian military stated that the system did not completely block Starlink, and its effectiveness was gradually being weakened. The Ukrainian side warned that the 'window of opportunity' is closing.
At the same time, due to the ‘Poyong Protection’ system being required to emit high-power signals, it is also easily targeted by Ukrainian electronic reconnaissance equipment. As a result, it becomes a priority target for drones and missiles. Reports indicate that several of these systems have been destroyed by the Ukrainian military since June.
According to the Ukrainian National News Agency, on August 28th, local time, Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander's Staff to discuss issues related to weapon supplies and combat objectives against Russia. Later, he posted on social media: "I held a meeting today. The focus was on maximizing the use of our weapons to defend against Russian attacks. The main goal is to defend against 'Shahd' drones and to conduct more frequent precise strikes against Russia."
He stated that the goal is to deploy 1,000 drones daily for remote strikes against Russia. Zelensky also said that Ukraine currently carries out more than 300 remote strikes against Russia per day, “but this number should be even higher.”
