In this regard, Lin Jian stated that the relevant departments of the Chinese government have initiated a national level II disaster relief response. All necessary emergency rescue forces have rushed to the scene immediately, and the search and rescue operations are being carried out in a tense and orderly manner. It is believed that under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Party, the people in the disaster area will surely be able to overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes.
Lin Jian also stated that the mudslide disaster has caused significant casualties and missing persons in China and Nepal. The Chinese side expresses sincere condolences to the Nepalese government and the affected people. China is closely communicating and coordinating with Nepal to carry out rescue efforts, and will provide emergency assistance according to the needs of Nepal. According to local reports, it is preliminarily estimated that there are 260 foreign citizens who are missing in the affected areas. Lin Jian stated that Chinese rescue efforts treat both Chinese and foreign nationals equally. China is in communication with the embassies of relevant countries in Kenya to inform them of the situation. Nearly a hundred Chinese citizens have become missing in the affected areas in Kenya. The Chinese embassy in Kenya is further verifying the situation with local authorities and issuing consular alerts. We once again remind Chinese citizens in Kenya to evacuate promptly and take precautions against secondary disasters. If necessary, they should contact the Chinese embassy in Kenya at any time, and the embassy will do its utmost to provide assistance.
