Five compatriots were trapped in the disaster area due to a flood and mudslide that occurred near Resova Pass on the Nepali side. After a difficult night in a cowshed, they were rescued by local rescuers using a helicopter on the morning of the 27th and transferred to the Nuwa Guode County Rescue Center.
Due to the paralysis of transportation in the disaster area and a shortage of transport vehicles, reporters decided to pause their reporting tasks after meeting with the people at the rescue center. They used their own vehicles to transport 5 compatriots to the capital. With limited space in the vehicle, they had to squeeze into the back seats and the trunk. On the way back, those who had survived the ordeal still seemed uneasy.
Xinhua News Agency reporters immediately contacted the Chinese Embassy in Nepal. "How many compatriots are there? Are they all safe?" a person in charge of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal asked the reporter. "They are all fine. We are on our way back to Kathmandu." When the reporter conveyed the greetings of the embassy to the five rescued compatriots, their eyes turned red.
During the trip, reporters also provided them with power banks, tissues and other items.
As of press time, reporters have safely delivered 5 compatriots to a hotel run by Chinese overseas residents in Kathmandu. The Chinese Embassy in Nepal is urgently processing the necessary documents for their return to China.
At approximately 10:30 on August 26th, a mudslide disaster occurred in Nepal, resulting in significant casualties and missing persons at the Jielong Port in Jielong County, Shigatse City, Tibet.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, on August 27, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian stated that Chinese rescue efforts are treated equally for Chinese and foreign personnel. Communication is being maintained with the embassies of relevant countries in China to inform them of the situation. Nearly a hundred Chinese citizens have been missing in the affected areas in Nepal.
