According to a report by the Yonhap News Agency on August 25, the Police Department of Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 25th that a man named B, who was in his 30s and suspected of killing the 25-year-old girl A, has been arrested and investigation is underway. The police took B into custody at approximately 7:29 PM in Gyeongsan City, and the body of A was found at B's residence in Huyang-eup, Gyeongsan City.
According to reports, A entered South Korea on the 14th of this month to collect his graduate diploma. Starting from the 20th, A lost contact with his family. His last known location was near Dong Daegu Station. While tracking A’s whereabouts, the police found signs of criminal activity and identified the suspect B.
To determine the cause of death of A, the police plan to conduct an autopsy on the body. The police are questioning B regarding the motive for the crime and the specifics of the criminal act. They will also search B’s residence to obtain evidence related to the crime. The police stated that due to the ongoing investigation, the details cannot be disclosed.

Her sister said in an interview that Wenwen entered South Korea on August 14th and had already bought a flight ticket back to Changchun from Incheon, South Korea, on August 23rd. The last video call between the two was at 11:34 p.m. on August 19th. By August 20th, Wenwen had not been in touch with her throughout the day.
After the incident, the family managed to contact a friend of Wenwen in South Korea. This friend told them that the last time he saw Wenwen was at around 7 or 8 pm on August 20th. According to his description, Wenwen was leaving his place with her suitcase in hand, saying she planned to find a hotel near Dongcheng Road in Daegu for one night, go shopping the next day, and then travel to Incheon on the 22nd, before returning to China by plane on the 23rd. After separating from this friend on the evening of August 20th, Wenwen was completely lost.
On the evening of August 25th, according to Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese Consulate General in Busan stated on the 25th that after verification with the South Korean police, a Chinese female student who had been missing for several days was found dead on that day. The police have arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of homicide.
