Earlier that day, the Himalayan region at the border between northern Nepal and Tibet in China suffered from heavy rain and flooding, resulting in damage to roads, bridges, and power projects. Both countries’ authorities are preparing for an increase in casualties and worsening of the disaster situation.
According to data released by the Nepal Tourism Board on the 26th, preliminary statistics show that flash floods have left 384 tourists missing, including 93 Nepalese tourists and 291 foreign tourists.
In Nepal, houses and roads have been destroyed by floods. China stated that after the Jiulong Pass border crossing was hit by mudslides, there were "serious casualties and missing persons."
