On August 24 local time, Asim Munir, Chief of the Pakistani Army and Army Marshal, met with Mohammad Baigol Kalibaf, President of the Iranian Parliament, in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Both parties stated that this meeting was an extension of Pakistan's ongoing efforts to promote regional peace and security. The discussion focused on regional situations, bilateral cooperation, and the Middle East peace process.
According to Iran's Mehr news agency, Kallibaf welcomed Munir and his team at the parliamentary building. He stated that Iran and Iraq have maintained friendly relations over a long period. Given the sensitive situation in the region, both countries should further strengthen political, security, and economic cooperation to jointly maintain regional stability.

Khalibaf also mentioned that earlier this year, Iran and Pakistan reached a memorandum of understanding in Islamabad, stating that Iran will continue to promote the implementation of relevant agreements. He also accused the United States of failing to fulfill its previous commitments and undermining regional stability, leading to Iran's further loss of trust in Washington.
Munir said that Pakistan will continue to work towards promoting peace and security in the region, support efforts to resolve conflicts through dialogue, and seek a “peaceful, sustainable and comprehensive” solution to the Middle East situation. He emphasized that both Iran and Pakistan have common interests in maintaining regional stability, and Pakistan is willing to continue deepening its cooperation with Iran.
Reuters noted that Pakistan has been acting as a mediator between the United States and Iran since this year. The Pakistani military also stated that Munir's visit to Tehran is part of Pakistan's efforts to "promote regional peace and stability," indicating that Pakistan continues to promote high-level communication with Iran.
