Netanyahu Claims Iran Targeted Son, Security Detail Reaches Agreement

On August 24 local time, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that Iran had attempted to assassinate one of his sons.

Netanyahu did not provide any further details. The Israel Times states that this statement seems to be in defense of an unusual agreement reached recently. The agreement stipulates that even if he loses the upcoming elections, the security forces can continue to protect his family.

There is one thing that's quite unbelievable... Netanyahu said in a phone interview, "Iran has targeted one of my sons, Iran is trying to assassinate one of my sons." He stated that without security protection, those potential assassination attempts “would succeed.”

Netanyahu has two sons. He did not disclose which of them was the target of the so-called assassination attempt, nor did he specify the nature and timing of the alleged assassination attempt.

He insisted that “Therefore, their safety protection is not a luxury.”

Reports indicate that earlier, sources revealed that in July this year, Netanyahu reached an agreement with Shin Bet (the Israeli National Security Agency) to extend security protection for his two sons and provide lifetime security coverage for his wife, regardless of the election results on October 27th.

Recently, after Sinnbit refused to provide security details for Gadi Eisenkot, the main political opponent of Netanyahu and the chairman of the Yashar Party, this agreement between Sinnbit and Netanyahu has caused controversy.

On the 24th, Sinebet stated that they would allow Eisenkot to have armed guards, but they would not provide them on their own.

The Israel Times reported that Netanyahu has two sons. Avner lives in Israel, while Yair spends most of his time in Miami, USA.

For a long time, there has been criticism that Air provided an excessive level of security coverage around the clock. In 2024, media reports indicated that Air lived in a luxury apartment complex in Miami, with a driver and two bodyguards from Sebete, spending approximately $55,000 per month on national expenses.
