Trumps Weight Raises Concerns About Health

According to the Washington Post report dated August 23 local time, doctors said that President Donald Trump's weight poses a significant health risk.

According to reports, since the election campaign began, Trump’s weight has increased by 23 pounds (20.87 jin). In August 2023, Trump surrendered himself in Fulton County during the Georgia election campaign and was arrested. Prison records show that Trump weighed 215 pounds (195.04 jin). In May of this year, a report released by the White House indicated that Trump’s weight that month was 238 pounds (215.91 jin). Trump is 6 feet 3 inches (190.5 centimeters) tall, and his weight is only about 1.6 pounds (1.45 jin) away from the “obese” standard.

The media also stated that the source of these weight data for 2023 is unclear. However, judging from the photos, compared to during the campaign period, the president now appears more bloated. The White House said that his weight has increased by 14 pounds between the last two annual check-ups.

The report states: “White House doctors said they have advised Trump—who is openly fond of fast food and detests intense exercise—to focus on losing weight, improving his diet, and sticking to exercise routines. External doctors have been more direct in their advice, saying that the 80-year-old president would be safer if he could reduce his waist circumference.”

White House spokesperson Inger said in a statement, “President Trump’s keenness, unparalleled energy, tireless work ethic, and unprecedented accessibility stand in sharp contrast to what we saw during the previous administration. At that time, Democrats and traditional media deliberately concealed from the American people Biden’s severe mental and physical decline.”

He said: "President Trump is the most intelligent and approachable president in American history. He constantly solves problems and fulfills his promises."

The White House did not respond to other questions regarding President Trump’s health, including doctors' recommendations this year for Trump to lose weight, and whether Trump has ever taken GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) anti-obesity medications.

Trump once stated that he had never taken GLP-1 drugs.

According to reports, Trump has often used his weight as a topic of discussion, both in speaking about himself and commenting on others. This is his favorite way of mocking opponents.

He sometimes jokes about his appearance, saying that wearing a bulletproof vest might make him look "20 pounds heavier".

In May, he said in the Oval Office: “Maybe junk food is good, but everything else is not. I know many people who only care about their weight and dealing with all kinds of things, and in the end, those things disappear. But we are still fine, and I think that’s great.”

However, Trump also said that he is vigilant about weight gain, and mentioned former President Taft who weighed more than 300 pounds.

In a podcast he released in July, he said to Second Lady Usha Vance, "He is the heaviest president we have ever had. I must be careful not to break his record. If I let things go, that could really happen."
