German Cup Match Erupts In Brawl, Resulting in 85 Injuries

According to Deutsche Press Agency, during the first round of the German Cup between the Manheim team and the Kaiserslautern team on the evening of August 21 local time, clashes broke out between fans of both teams, resulting in 85 injuries.

Approximately 23,500 spectators attended the game. During the regular 90-minute match, neither team scored any goals. After a dispute between the players of both teams, the situation on the field escalated. Some players from Kaiserslautern set off fireworks towards the stands, and fans of Mannheim rushed onto the pitch. The conflict posed a risk of the game being interrupted, and the extra time was also postponed.

The police intervened promptly and controlled the situation, but the conflict still resulted in 85 injuries, with 8 people being sent to hospitals for treatment. German police said that 35 officers were injured, and several fans were detained.

After the match resumed, Kaiserslautern scored a goal in overtime and won with a final score of 1-0.

Currently, the German police are investigating a series of suspected crimes, including attacks, property damage, disruption of public order, attacks on police officers, and violations of explosives laws. The German Football Association stated that it will gather relevant reports and submit them to the relevant authorities, and will not tolerate any actions that endanger safety.
