Air Force Colonel Li Jianjian, spokesperson for the Southern Theater Air Force, stated that on August 21, three small aircraft—a Philippine aircraft, C-208, and PA-31T—illegally entered the airspace over Huangyan Island without the approval of the Chinese government. The Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army organized naval and aerial forces to track and warn the Philippines in accordance with laws and regulations. The actions of the Philippines constitute a serious violation of China’s sovereignty and can easily lead to misunderstandings and misjudgments. We urge the Philippines to immediately cease these provocative acts. The troops in the theater maintain a high level of readiness and will resolutely defend national sovereignty, security, and regional peace and stability.
