British Minister Warns Racism and Gender Bias Normalizing in Society

According to a report by the British newspaper The Guardian on the 20th, British Women's and Equality Minister Bridget Phillipson said that racism and gender discrimination have become normalized in British society. She warned that social media is dragging young men into a violent anti-woman sentiment.

Philipson said that online remarks and the public statements of some politicians have made gender-biased attitudes and racism increasingly common. Many of these remarks would have been completely unacceptable to society just a few years ago. This situation has caused her growing concern.

She accused senior members of the Reform Party and the Conservative Party of making racist statements in recent years, and also criticized the police for not giving enough attention to violence against women and girls.

"Not long ago, things that were completely unacceptable have now become commonplace. Whether it's the attitude towards women or the attitude towards racial prejudice, we can see a regression." Philip said.

She specifically criticized the shadow justice minister Nick Timothy and the Reform Party's economic affairs spokesperson Robert Jennrick, stating that both have made racist remarks in recent years.

Earlier this year, Timothy described Muslims praying in Trafalgar Square as an act of “proclaiming dominance”. In October last year, Jennrick complained of “not seeing a single white face” while visiting a neighborhood in Birmingham, which led to public criticism.
