Chinese Actor Deceived & Trapped in Human Trafficking Ring: Suspects Apprehended

Recently, the Second Branch of the Shanghai People's Procuratorate, after legal review, identified a transnational trafficking group operating in Myanmar's Myo Dawtei region. The group aimed to trade human beings, using the lure of working abroad as a bait to lure victims such as Chinese citizen Wang into foreign territories. Armed personnel were used to forcibly transport these victims to Myo Dawtei. The group carried out acts of robbery, assault, and illegal detention against many of these victims. Some female victims were raped and forced into prostitution. Members of this group, including Wang Jun, Zhang Fei, and Wu Mou Long, were charged with crimes such as human trafficking, illegal detention, robbery, and kidnapping, in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China and the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China. The case was brought before the Second Intermediate People's Court of Shanghai.

On February 20, 2025, the Ministry of Public Security announced that 10 key suspects involved in cases where Chinese actors such as Wang Xing were deceived and stranded overseas, and subjected to illegal detention, had been captured by Thai police. They were successfully brought back to China by our public security authorities in the early hours of February 15.
