At the invitation of Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister of China, Chilean Foreign Minister Perez will pay an official visit to China from August 18th to 22nd.

According to CCTV news reports, on August 17, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian presided over a regular press conference. A journalist asked: China has announced news of Chilean Foreign Minister Perez's visit to China. How does China evaluate the current relations between China and Chile? What are the expectations regarding this visit?

Lin Jian stated that Chile is an important country in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, and it is also the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with New China. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than half a century ago, Sino-Chilean relations have been at the forefront of China's relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Sino-Chilean relations have made continuous progress. Political mutual trust has become increasingly solid, exchanges at various levels have become more frequent, and cooperation in various fields has continued to deepen. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Chile. The Chinese side looks forward to having in-depth discussions with the Chilean side on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of common concern through this visit. We aim to continue our friendship, expand consensus, deepen cooperation, and push Sino-Chilean relations to new heights.
