Trump: US Primary Goal in Iran is Preventing Nuclear Weapons

According to the Israel Times, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on August 17th local time, stating that the United States' 'primary goal' regarding Iran is to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons.

"The paramount objective is and shall forever be—Iran shall in no way, by any means, through any route, possess nuclear weapons." Trump wrote.

Reports indicate that Trump's latest remarks contradict those of Vice President Biden last week.

On the 13th, Vance said in an interview with Fox News that the primary goal of the United States in its current war with Iran is no longer Iran’s nuclear weapons, but to reduce the price of gasoline for American consumers.

"The top priority is to allow all Americans in every part of the country to purchase petroleum and natural gas at low prices," Vance said, "Clearly, the second goal is to ensure that Iran will never be able to obtain nuclear weapons."

For a long time, the United States has viewed Iran's nuclear program as a serious security threat, and has used it as a central pretext for implementing long-term economic sanctions against Iran, diplomatic isolation, and military strikes in recent years.

Regarding White House Press Secretary Leif Whit's statement on the comments made by Wan Si, he said, "I believe both of these goals are equally important to the president."

"Of course, we hope to maintain low oil prices. This is why the current government has done a great deal of work to ensure market stability. However, it's also a priority for the president in this conflict to make sure Iran will never be able to acquire nuclear weapons."
