Cambridge Professor Jason Addy Dies Under Mysterious Circumstances

The controversial former professor at Cambridge University, Jason Addy (41 years old), was found dead due to a plagiarism scandal.

According to the BBC, on the afternoon of August 14th local time, emergency rescue authorities reported that a man was found 'unresponsive' at an address in Battersea, south London.

The London Police Headquarters stated in a statement: "At present, his death is considered an accidental incident but there is no indication of suspicious circumstances."

Adie served as a torchbearer during the London Olympic Games torch relay in 2012. UK media reports.

In 2023, Adi was appointed as a professor of sociology at Cambridge University at the age of 37, becoming the youngest African-American professor in the university's history. His story of growth is truly legendary: he was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3, could not speak until the age of 11, and only learned to read and write at the age of 18.

But previously, he was involved in an incident of plagiarism and falsification of his resume.

The accusations against Ade are mainly focused on two aspects: first, his doctoral thesis and other academic research involve significant plagiarism; second, many of the achievements he claimed to have made are exaggerated or even fabricated, including completing 30 marathons within 35 days and raising millions of pounds for charitable organizations.

Just hours after the University of Cambridge announced that it would initiate a formal investigation, Ady announced his resignation as professor on the 5th local time.

Adi denies any acts of plagiarism, but admits that there are errors in his work. He states that the recent controversy surrounding his work has led to "continuous public scrutiny and personal attacks," and that the "personal cost" caused by this scrutiny has become "too great."

He said, “Although criticism is an inevitable part of academic life, what I have experienced goes far beyond academic disagreements. Continuous accusations, speculations, and public comments have caused great harm to me and those I love.”
