August 15th is the day when Japan surrendered its defeat.
According to Japanese media such as Kyodo News, on that day, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Akai delivered a speech at the so-called 'commemoration ceremony for war victims', saying 'We will never let the tragedy of war happen again', but did not mention 'self-reflection'.
Koshi said, “We will never allow such war tragedies to happen again. No matter how time passes, we must pass down this firm vow from generation to generation and carry it through to the end.”
She said, “Japan can play an important role in addressing various issues faced by different countries. We can become a shining lighthouse in the Indo-Pacific region, a country that is trusted by all nations.”
The report indicates that she did not mention the word “reflection,” nor did she address Japan’s responsibility for the atrocities committed in Asian countries.
On the same day, Japanese Defense Minister Kenjiro Koizumi posted on social media regarding his visit to the Yasukuni Shrine, stating, 'While swearing never to wage war again, I have once more strengthened my resolve to continue fulfilling Japan's responsibility as a peace-loving country, by walking the path of peace.'
