According to a report by Kyodo News on August 13th, at around 10:20 am local time on August 11th, a F-22 fighter jet of the US military stationed in Japan made an emergency landing at the Kadena base.
After approximately 20 minutes of inspection by firefighters and maintenance personnel on the south side of the runway, the aircraft was towed to the apron. It is reported that there was a malfunction with the aircraft.

Previously, several accidents occurred with F-22 fighter jets of the U.S. military stationed in Japan.
On the morning of April 11, 2024, a F-22 fighter jet at Kadena Air Base had a problem with its nose landing gear, resulting in the aircraft hitting the ground. On May 14 of the same year, a F-22 fighter jet at Kadena Air Base accidentally slipped out of the equipped landing area after being towed onto the runway in Okinawa and parked there.
