According to a report by The Wall Street Journal on August 11th local time, an internal assessment report submitted to Congress by the US Department of Defense on Tuesday indicates that a series of air strikes carried out by the United States against Yemen last year resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties.
According to reports, this report marks the first time the Trump administration has officially acknowledged the scale of civilian casualties in its bombing operations against the Houla resistance group in 2025.
The United States Central Command, responsible for U.S. military operations in the Middle East, stated in its assessment that three airstrikes against Yemen in April 2025 resulted in the deaths of 153 civilians and injuries to 243 people. The assessment indicates that the Central Command is reviewing another 15 incidents during the operations against the Houla militant group that could have caused civilian casualties.
According to reports, the Pentagon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
According to reports from CCTV, on March 15 last year, the United States began launching large-scale air strikes against the Houthi forces. In response, the Houthi forces attacked American aircraft carriers and their accompanying ships. On May 6 of that same year, the United States reached a ceasefire agreement with the Houthi forces.
