Las Vegas Police Officer Shot Dead in Confrontation with Gunman

According to American media News3LV, on August 4th, a police officer was shot during a confrontation with a gunman in Las Vegas, Nevada. The officer died from his injuries.

According to the police, before 4 p.m. that day, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a call reporting that a suspected intoxicated person was armed and waving a gun near an enterprise on East Tropicana Avenue. After receiving the report, officers rushed to the scene and made contact with the suspect. Subsequently, a gun battle broke out between the two parties.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Chief Kevin McMahill stated that a 30-year-old officer was shot in the exchange of fire and was taken to the hospital, but died due to his severe injuries. The police confirmed on the 5th that the deceased officer was Austin Abdulnabi, who joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2023. Prior to that, he was a United States Marine.

The police say that the suspect died at the scene. The case is still under investigation, and the police have advised the public to stay away from the area where the incident occurred for now.
