What is the purpose of China's activities in this regard? Is there a plan to exploit potential rare earth resources beneath the Pacific Ocean floor? Additionally, did China's aircraft carrier Liaoning enter the region last June, and what was the purpose of that move?
Lin Jian stated that regarding the first issue, the marine scientific research activities carried out by China serve peaceful purposes and strictly comply with relevant international laws. The aim is to enhance humanity's scientific understanding of the oceans and promote the overall interests of the international community.
Regarding the second question, Lin Jian said that China has always adopted a defensive national defense policy. The activities of Chinese warships in relevant waters are completely in accordance with international law and international practice.
