Yonhap reported on August 6 that it was revealed that the Korean Football Association arranged multiple sexual entertainments for foreign referees before matches of the Korean team 15 years ago.
According to Korean football industry sources, a member of the South Korean Parliament confirmed that the Korea Football Association provided sexual entertainment to over ten international referees between 2011 and 2012.
Specifically, from March 2011 to March 2012, before the three World Cup qualifiers and four friendly matches held in South Korea, the South Korean Football Association arranged sexual entertainments for more than 10 foreign referees and monitors.
The Korean Football Association paid tens of thousands of Korean won, or even more than a million Korean won, for each such pornographic entertainment.
According to reports, in 2016, the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism conducted an investigation into the Korea Football Association, and had already learned of the relevant facts, but did not disclose them to the public. The confirmed instances of inappropriate behavior occurred during the tenure of former chairman Cho Jung-yun.
