According to an Associated Press report dated August 4th local time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Israeli army will not withdraw from its current positions in Gaza until Hamas is completely disarmed. He also expressed opposition to the recent agreement announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
He stated that the Israeli military will continue to take all necessary measures to protect itself, Israel’s territory, and its citizens.
In a video posted on social media, Netanyahu said, "The Trump administration sent us a draft. We did not agree with it. That is not our draft. We submitted our opinions... This is our position."
On July 30th, local time, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the so-called “Peace Commission” initiated by the United States had reached a “historic agreement” on that day. The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip will completely disarm, and Israel will also withdraw its troops from the area. In a post on social media, Trump stated that this agreement is an important milestone in implementing his “Gaza 20-point plan,” a “key step toward lasting peace and security,” and an “important step toward the establishment of a new Palestinian government governing the Gaza Strip.” He also emphasized that through this agreement, “Israel will receive the security it deserves.”
Earlier in Thursday, an anonymous official revealed that Israel had rejected a proposal. The official said, “Israel demands that Hamas completely disarm, including removing weapons from Gaza and achieving full demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, as prerequisites for any process. The relevant documents failed to respond satisfactorily to these demands, and Israel has expressed its opposition.”
According to CCTV news reports, Hamas stated on July 31 that the organization agreed to include the issue of weapons transfer within the framework of the Gaza cease-fire agreement. However, this is conditional upon Israel ceasing all forms of aggression and withdrawing its troops from the Gaza Strip.
