According to Peruvian media reports dated August 1st, a small plane crashed about 6 kilometers away from the Nasca city in Ica Province, southern Peru, resulting in the death of 13 people.
According to a statement issued by Peru’s Ministry of Commerce and Tourism, the aircraft carried 11 foreign tourists and 2 crew members. The involved aircraft was originally scheduled to fly to the famous Nasca Geoglyphs in that region.
Currently, rescue workers and relevant departments have rushed to the accident scene to carry out rescue efforts, and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
According to Reuters, the local government stated that the plane crashed in the Pueblito Viejo area, about 6 kilometers from Nasca City and 12 kilometers from the Nazca Lines site. The small aircraft belonged to Peru's local airline Aerodiana and had taken off from Pisco Airport. The company has not commented on this matter yet.
According to local media reports from the police, the accident occurred at 12:55 local time on a Wednesday afternoon. The plane was on a sightseeing flight and was about to begin its return journey.
