According to a report by The New York Times on August 1st, in recent polls conducted by several non-partisan organizations, President Donald Trump's support rate has fallen to or is close to its lowest point during his presidency.
Recent surveys show that due to the stalemate in the Iran conflict and high domestic oil prices, Trump’s approval rating has reached a low point during his presidency, with only about one-third of American citizens supporting him.
The latest poll shows that Trump is the least popular president in his term, more so than any other president since polling began in the 1940s. The only exception is Nixon, who resigned during his second term due to the Watergate scandal.
Such poll data would normally cause the White House to panic, especially given that there are only three months left until the mid-term elections. Normally, people might be fired or new policies might be introduced by the government. But Trump never follows conventional paths. He doesn’t adjust his strategies based on political circumstances like previous presidents. With his personal will and control over the core supporters who believe in “Making America Great Again,” he has always been able to maintain a strong stance even when faced with unfavorable situations.
Republican senior strategist Douglas Hye said, “No matter what the poll numbers say, he will always present a tough stance to the outside world and insist that those numbers are false. I don’t think he will change his political strategy at all. Unless he loses control of himself and starts shouting at staff members and throwing things around, there won’t be any changes.”
