Iran Strikes US Base After US Attacks Near Abas Port

According to Iranian news agency Tasnim, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard of Iran said that at 4:50 a.m. local time on the 28th, after the US military launched an attack near the Abas Port Airport, Iran promptly targeted a US Air Force base.

The Revolutionary Guard has not revealed the exact location of that base.

The Iranian side warned that if such aggressive actions occurred again, a more forceful countermeasure would be taken. They also stated that any consequences would be borne by the party that provoked such actions.

Reuters reported on May 28 that an American official stated that the U.S. military launched another round of attacks within Iran, targeting a military facility. The U.S. believes that this facility poses a threat to U.S. troops and commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Hours ago, Iran reported that both parties might reach an agreement to resume shipping in the Gulf of Hormuz. It was also mentioned that Iran and Oman would jointly manage this shipping operation. However, U.S. President Donald Trump denied this claim.

US officials revealed that the US military has downed four Iranian attack drones that posed a threat near the Strait.

The official added that the U.S. target was an Iranian ground control station located in the port of Abbas. At that time, the station was preparing to launch its fifth drone.

This strike is the second action taken by the US within this week. On the 25th, the US military carried out strikes in southern Iran. The US described these actions as defensive measures, while Iran condemned them as serious violations of the ceasefire agreement between both sides.

The Kuwaiti military stated on the 28th that its air defense forces are intercepting incoming missiles and drones. Kuwait did not provide any information about the source of the attack. The military also said that all of the explosions heard within the country were caused by its air defense systems in intercepting targets.
