According to a report by Reuters on July 31st, Latvian Interior Minister Dombravava announced that due to 'technical reasons', Latvia has closed its border with Belarus. People who have not yet returned to Latvia are advised to use other routes.
Regarding this, Anton Bichekowski, representative of the Belarus National Border Service, responded in an interview with the Belta News Agency that the National Border Service has not confirmed any news regarding the closure of borders.
Latvia closed the Silene border crossing with Belarus in 2023, citing "illegal immigration pressure from Belarus." Since then, Paternieki has become the only open border crossing between the two countries.
