Regarding the investigation by the Argentine Football Federation, it involves slogan-related issues during the 2026 World Cup in the US, Mexico, and Argentina, including so-called 'inappropriate slogans'. This includes the flag displayed by Argentine players after defeating England in the semifinals of this World Cup, which read 'The Malvinas Islands belong to Argentina'. The Argentine Football Federation also faces allegations of discrimination and violation of security regulations.
In addition, FIFA has launched an investigation separately regarding the events that occurred during the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has initiated an investigation into Argentine players PareDES, Molina, Almadá, and assistant coach Ayala. Spanish player Gavi is also under investigation for suspected misconduct.
Launching an investigation does not mean that the relevant individuals have been punished.
