The spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said, "We have noticed the relevant situation. The measures taken by the US Federal Communications Commission appear to be under the banner of 'non-discrimination,' but in reality, they are discriminatory and aim to suppress Chinese companies and products. This is not the first time the US Federal Communications Commission has taken such measures; it has already imposed restrictions on other Chinese goods in the past. For some time, the US Federal Communications Commission has ignored China's repeated negotiations and restrained actions, continuously introducing and escalating restrictive measures. These measures seriously harm China's legitimate trade interests, severely undermine the stable economic and trade relationship between China and the US, and cause disruptions to the stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain. China firmly opposes such actions."
The spokesperson said that robots and power inverters are normal international commodities. All parties, including the United States, benefit from trade. The US has generalized the concept of national security and, despite the strong objections from the industries in both China and the US, has used administrative force to interfere with normal business transactions and trade between companies. This practice of promoting “disconnection and disentanglement” is harmful to others and not beneficial to oneself. It is a typical case of market distortion and unilateral bullying. China urges the US to immediately withdraw the relevant measures and stop this wrongful behavior. If the US continues to act unilaterally, China will resolutely counter it and safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
On July 28 local time, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) updated its Controlled Substances List, adding two categories of regulated products: advanced robot devices produced overseas and connected power inverters. The U.S. claims that these measures are intended to ‘prevent supply chain security risks, ensure the stability of the U.S. artificial intelligence industry, and promote the return of key manufacturing industries to the United States’.
The new regulations come into effect from the date of promulgation. Currently, they apply only to new models that have not yet been launched.
