Krishna Murthy was born in New Delhi, India, and moved with his family to the United States when he was young. Since 2017, he has been a federal congressman representing District 8 in Illinois, USA. He also served as the Democratic leader of the infamous anti-China committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. As one of the hard-line congressmen dealing with China issues, he frequently emphasized so-called "Chinese competitive pressures," calling for the United States to strengthen competition with China in areas such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
