According to Reuters, the Robert Koch Institute in Germany (RKI) reported in its weekly report on the 30th that this year, it is estimated that 9,800 people in Germany have died due to high temperatures, with temperatures in several regions exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
The research institute stated that among the cases of deaths related to high temperatures, the proportion of people aged 75 and above was the highest.
According to data from this institution, mortality rates increase significantly when the average temperature exceeds 20 degrees Celsius during that week.
The Institute added: “Therefore, we expect a series of heat waves to strike in this summer, and will likely lead to a rise in death toll.”
As early as June, Germany experienced record-breaking heatwaves, with temperatures in many areas exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
