Facing the growing social welfare expenditures, the new British Prime Minister Barnett recently stated that it is necessary to 'take seriously' the issue of cutting welfare spending.
According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on July 27, Bernam said in his first major interview after becoming prime minister that he did not want to step down without bringing 'substantial reforms' to the social care system.
Bernam told the BBC that if the government does not reform the social care system, the NHS will be overwhelmed and may even collapse due to caring for people who do not need to be cared for by the NHS.
Bernham also suggested increasing the difficulty of receiving benefits, stating that the country must “take the issue of cutting welfare spending seriously”.
Bernam said that he might impose additional conditions for British citizens to receive welfare benefits, as he believes that “some people can participate in work with the right support.”
