Trump Claims China, Russia Not Supporting Iran in US-Iran Conflict

According to Reuters, on July 24 local time, U.S. President Trump said he believed China and Russia's commitments, stating that China and Russia did not support Iran in the US-Iran conflict.

On that day, Trump posted a message on the ‘Real Social’ platform, stating that Putin had promised him that no weapons would be sold to Iran. He believed that Russia and China were not involved in the US-Iran conflict.

But he also threatened, “If they (China and Russia) come to help Iran, the consequences will be very bad. This certainly does not serve their best interests.”

Subsequently, Trump was interviewed at the White House. In response to a reporter's question about whether Defense Secretary Hagel had claimed that China and Russia were helping Iran, Trump said, "I don't think they are providing support for Iran in secret. I am willing to believe them."

Earlier this week, Hagersees spoke at a congressional hearing, claiming that China and Russia are providing support to Iran in ways that are “inconvenient to disclose in detail”. “Both China and Russia are facilitating and bolstering a series of actions by Iran at various levels.”

In May this year, China's Ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, stated that China has long adhered to an independent and peaceful foreign policy and has always opposed the use of military force in international relations. From the first day of the conflict in Iran, China has firmly stood on the side of peace, working towards mediating negotiations and ending conflicts through ceasefires. However, some people, fearing that things would get even more chaotic, have fabricated false news claiming that China benefits from such situations or provides military aid to Iran. The purpose of these false claims is to smear China, provoke confrontations between China and the United States, and undermine high-level interactions between the two countries. These are all misleading information with ulterior motives. Countries with discernment should fully recognize this and neither believe nor spread such false news.

Xie Feng pointed out that the blockade of the Hormuz Strait, the disruption of the international energy market, and the impact on global supply chains are severe disasters for both China and the world. This war should not have taken place in the first place, and it should be stopped immediately. The Chinese side hopes that the US and Iran will continue negotiations and support all efforts that contribute to ending the conflict as soon as possible and restoring peace and stability. The Chinese side will continue to strive for peace unremittingly.
