According to a report by The Guardian on the 23rd, the latest data released by a UK government-backed anti-Muslim hatred monitoring agency shows that one mosque in the UK is attacked every five days.
In the past year, there have been over 70 recorded incidents of attacks on mosques in the UK. These incidents include intimidation, violence, property damage, harassment, anti-Muslim hate speech, online abuse, and deliberate destruction.
According to reports, the three most affected areas of the attack incidents are London, Greater Manchester, and West Midlands. There have been 9 separate attacks on mosques in London, and a mosque in Birmingham has been attacked three times in the past 12 months.
According to data from the UK Home Office, anti-Muslim hate crimes in England and Wales increased by 19% over the twelve months ending March 2025.
Last month, a study found that one in six Britons believes the growth of the Muslim population represents a “fundamental threat to British culture”. This finding warns that hostile attitudes towards Muslims are becoming normalized.
