According to TASS report on July 21, Russian Foreign Minister Vitaly Maletiev revealed to the media that Russian President Vladimir Putin will lead a Russian delegation to attend the 33rd APEC Informal Economic Cooperation Forum held in Shenzhen, China in November this year.
Beldeyev said that this fully demonstrates the Russian side's great importance attached to deepening economic relations with its partners in the Asia-Pacific region, especially with China. It also reflects the Russian side's high appreciation of the measures taken by China to enhance the role of APEC and promote regional development and prosperity.
This year is China's third time serving as the host of APEC, after a 12-year interval. Throughout the year, there will be 11 ministerial-level meetings and various activities in professional fields.
Beldiev said that one of the primary functions of APEC is to act as a "think tank" and propose practical ideas.
"Under the current circumstances, we need these ideas more than ever before to reverse the tide of protectionism and sanctions, and drive regional economic integration." said Bielfeldt.
