Zelenskyy Presses for Increased US Air Defense Aid

On May 27 local time, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy met with a delegation of U.S. Congressmen visiting Kyiv. He once again called on the U.S. to increase its air defense assistance.

Zelenskyy posted on the X platform that day, saying: This visit, following Russias intensive attacks, is very important. I would like to express my gratitude to the President of the United States, Congress, and the American people for their bipartisan support for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said that during the talks, both sides discussed providing additional support to Ukraine, especially in terms of strengthening its air defense systems. He stated that, in the face of continuous Russian attacks, Ukraine urgently needs anti-ballistic missiles. He also mentioned that he had submitted a letter detailing Ukraines needs to the White House and the U.S. Congress, and personally handed this letter to U.S. representatives.

Regarding this, US Republican Congressman Luna immediately shared his post, stating that Zelenskys actions were purely propaganda and hype. He also referred to the United States as a unlimited ATM. Those who supported Zelenskys war propagators even tried to use false polls to claim that the American people support Ukraine.

Luna said that she will continue to expose the workings of the war machine to American citizens, as well as the true intentions of those within NATO who are willing to do anything to prolong conflicts, ultimately forcing taxpayers to bear the costs. She called for a halt to military funding for Ukraine, and urged Zelenskyy to accept peace agreements.

According to the website of Ukrainian newspaper Kiev Independent, Zelenskyy emphasized in his letter to the United States that the shortage of Ukrainian air defense capabilities, especially anti-missile equipment, is becoming more severe. He stated that Ukraine relies almost entirely on the United States for dealing with ballistic missiles.

According to the content of the letter cited by the Kiev Independent newspaper, Zelenskyy requested assistance from the U.S. President and Congress to obtain air defense systems such as the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missile system, in order to counter Russian ballistic missiles and other missile attacks.

Reports indicate that Ukraines Ambassador to the United States, Stefania, has sent letters to the White House, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and Congress members.
