According to Sky News, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on the 20th local time that after officially taking office, the first foreign leaders he would contact would be Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Bernam told media, “Later today, I will clearly tell President Zelensky that there will be no changes. I will be with him 100%, just as Kil Stamer has always been.”
Bernam said that during his tenure as mayor of Greater Manchester over the past few years, he worked with mayors from Ukraine.
"I will carry all of these experiences into my new role. Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, will have absolutely no questions about this, British support is unshakeable and will remain steadfast by his side, I too will personally support him." Barnaby said.
On the same day, Zelenskyy posted a message on X platform to congratulate Bernham, saying, "Britain has always been one of the global leaders. The foundation of our bilateral relations is stronger than ever. I look forward to our conversation later today."
On the 20th, Bernham, as the new leader of the British ruling Labour Party, was appointed by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace and became the new British Prime Minister.
Bernam is the seventh Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in the past decade. British media indicate that, like his predecessors, Bernam's tenure as Prime Minister will not be smooth. He will face many challenges in areas such as social welfare, defense spending, living costs, and geopolitics.
