On the morning of the 19th, the U.S. Embassy in Jordan issued a security alert stating that “due to specific and credible threats, the Jordanian authorities have evacuated Yarkab International Airport and the port.” It was strongly advised that all U.S. citizens refrain from visiting these locations.
Mohamed Mumni stated that Aqaba International Airport and the port are operating normally, and “in the past few hours, the relevant departments have not recorded any potential threats.”
Aqaba is located at the southernmost tip of Jordan and is the only port city in Jordan.
On the 18th, the U.S. Central Command confirmed through social media that two U.S. soldiers were killed in attacks by Iranian ballistic missiles and drones within Jordan on the 17th, and another U.S. soldier is missing.
