Iran Threatens to Block Oil Shipments from Strait of Hormuz in Response to US Attacks

On July 14 local time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran stated that as long as the United States continues its 'evil actions' in the region and continues to attack Iran, not a single drop of oil or natural gas will be released from that region.

The Revolutionary Guard also stated that American aggression will not lead to any other consequences beyond delaying the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. They added that attacks on American facilities located in Kuwait and Bahrain are responses to those attacks by the United States.

The statement says that as long as the US military continues to launch attacks, retaliatory actions against the US military will continue. It also warns that any further attacks will be met with an “unexpected response”.

Previously, the US Central Command announced that, following instructions from President Trump, the U.S. military began resuming its maritime blockade of Iran on the Eastern Time Zone on the 14th at 4:16 PM, and launched a new round of attacks that same afternoon. This is already the fourth consecutive day that the U.S. has carried out military strikes against Iran.

Iran said that on the 14th, US forces conducted an air raid on Bushehr Port, which has Iran's only civilian nuclear power plant. Iran also attacked a US military base within Jordan's territory.

Trump said in an interview with Fox News on the 14th that if Tehran does not return to the negotiation table, "the situation will become very bad next week," and the United States will destroy all of Tehran's power plants and bridges. Trump also threatened that the U.S. strikes against Iran would continue until he said "enough."

CNN reported that this is not the first time Trump has threatened to attack Iranian power plants and bridges, but he has not actually carried out such threats.
