On May 30 local time, the International Atomic Energy Agency stated that its team at Zaporizhia nuclear power plant had requested access to the site in order to inspect the damaged motor room at the nuclear power plant firsthand.
Earlier on the 30th, the authorities responsible for controlling Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant announced through social media that a Ukrainian drone attacked one of the generator rooms at the plants sixth-generation power generation unit that day. Fortunately, no casualties or serious damage was caused.
The International Atomic Energy Agency stated that this is the first drone attack within the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant area since April 2024. The International Atomic Energy Agency will update relevant information based on further reports from the team, once it obtains permission to access the site.
