On May 29th, local time, Jeffrey Sachs, a renowned American scholar and professor at Columbia University, criticized the U.S. government in a podcast. He argued that the U.S. government did not act in accordance with democratic principles. There was strong opposition to the war against Iran, and Congress had become dead in name. Sachs also pointed out that Israel implemented extreme and dehumanizing policies towards half of its population under its rule. Thats our ally, he said.
Saks believes that Israels military actions depend on American weapons, funding, and diplomatic support. In other words, Israel is held in the palm of ones hand by the United States. However, as long as the United States can make it clear to Israel that we are not your pawns, not your toys, Israel will be able to be constrained from carrying out its military actions.
