Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 3,342

According to Reuters, Hugo Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, reported on July 5 local time that the death toll from the earthquake in Venezuela has risen to 3,342, and the number of injured persons has increased to 16,740.

According to the latest official statistics from the authorities, as of now, 6,462 people have been rescued, and 17,845 people have lost their homes. The earthquake caused damage to 856 buildings, with 190 of them collapsing. Since the powerful earthquake occurred on June 24th, 995 aftershocks have been recorded.

Currently, 4,088 international rescuers and 27,482 volunteers are participating in the rescue efforts.

Venezuela Acting President Rodriguez said in a speech on the 5th that the Venezuelan government has sent public officials and rescue teams to participate in the search and rescue efforts for survivors. She stated, "There will be no social unrest here; we have a strong sense of social unity."
