According to a report by the Associated Press on July 4th, police in Napa County, California, announced that Paul Pelosi, husband of former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was suspected of causing an accident that damaged a car parked by the roadside. He may face misdemeanor charges.
According to a statement issued by the Napa County Sheriff's Office, on March 3 local time, Paul Pelosi was driving his brown convertible in Yantville, Napa County, when he hit a legally parked car. After a brief stop, he drove away from the scene. No injuries were reported in the accident.

A witness called the police, and the police later found Pelosi on a road about 400 meters away from the scene of the accident. The front of his vehicle was damaged. Pelosi told the police that he knew he had hit something, but he wasn’t sure when or what caused the damage to his vehicle.
The statement indicates that no alcohol was detected in Pelosi’s body. The police have handed him over to the United States Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for evaluation regarding whether his driving license should be retained. U.S. officials stated that this is a common procedure for elderly drivers.
Currently, Pelosi has not been arrested by the American police, but the Napa County Sheriff's Office has recommended filing a misdemeanor charge against him for hit-and-run.
The 86-year-old Paul Pelosi had a history of drunk driving. In 2022, he faced a minor charge for drunk driving in Napa County and was sentenced to 5 days in jail, along with a fine of $6800 and damages. However, Pelosi actually served only 2 days in prison, receiving a 2-day reduction due to his “good behavior,” with the remaining 1 day served through community service at the courthouse. It is worth mentioning that this incident also occurred in Yantville.
