USMNT World Cup Round of 16: Colombia Clinches Spot, Quarterfinal Matchups Set

On July 4th, Beijing time, the last match of the semifinals of the USMNT-CAM-Mexico World Cup concluded with Colombia defeating Ghana 1-0. Thus, all the 16 teams for this World Cup have been determined.

Eight teams in the Northern Conference

Paraguay vs France, Canada vs Morocco, Portugal vs Spain, United States vs Belgium.

Brazil vs Norway, Mexico vs England, Argentina vs Egypt, Switzerland vs Colombia.

On July 4, the final day of the World Cup round of 16, there were three matches. The defending champion Argentina fought hard in extra time and narrowly defeated the dark horse Cape Verde with a score of 3-2. Messi opened the scoring for Argentina, and Cape Verde equalized twice. This is the sixth meeting between the two teams, and also their third confrontation on the World Cup stage. The French team has never lost to Paraguay before (3 wins and 2 draws). In the previous friendly match in June 2017, France won 5-0 against Paraguay. This match is also the second time in 8 years that the two teams meet again.
