On July 1st local time, Australian Senator David Pocock spoke in the Senate. He cited a report by the United Nations Independent International Investigative Commission, stating that the Israeli military had killed at least 20,000 Palestinian children, injured 44,000 children, and also attacked orphanages and other infrastructure facilities.

Pocock said that there is evidence showing that Israeli soldiers even intentionally shot at children’s limbs, playing a "distorted target shooting game".

Pokork said that Australia, as a member state of the United Nations, should fulfill its obligations. "The brutal killings of tens of thousands of Palestinian children in Gaza must be punished."
