From July 2nd to 4th, the 14th World Peace Forum was held in Beijing. During the discussions on the 4th, Bosaani, Director of the Center for Public Policy and Africa Studies at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, gave a speech on BRICS cooperation and international order.
Boussnian said that since the establishment of the BRICS mechanism, member countries have been willing to remain because they understand the true purpose of the mechanism and strive for its goals. Other platforms such as the G7 are meant to maintain the hegemonic positions of certain countries, but hegemony has never been a core element of the BRICS countries.
He added, “The BRICS countries are able to successfully handle conflicts among their member countries, such as the conflict between China and India. These issues are largely resolved within the BRICS framework. Although there are still some disagreements, these conflicts can generally be properly managed. This is something that is very rare on other global platforms.”
"I am certain that the BRICS nations hold a bright future, and I believe we need new institutions. I believe that our ongoing adherence to the BRICS spirit will surely guide us towards a better future. I also fully trust in the BRICS philosophy of governance that prioritizes the well-being of the people, as championed by China." Busiani said.
